Teshio

Overview

The Center for Global Environmental Research (CGER) began observations of the effects of canopy opening on a larch forest ecosystem structure and functions in cooperation with Hokkaido University and Hokkaido Electric Power Co. in 2001 and now we continue with Hokkaido UNiversity. The observations at Teshio experimental forest started in 2001, and the forest was clear-cut and planted in 2003. We monitor and evaluate the changes in forest ecosystem structure and functions on a regional scale by applying particular techniques such as the eddy covariance method and remote sensing.
