Global Environmental Monitoring
CGER carries out continuous monitoring of the environment in a wide range of fields relating to global environmental issues such as climate change, with international cooperation.
These monitoring activities cover the atmosphere, ocean, freshwaters, and the biosphere particularly in the East Asian and the West Pacific regions.
Atmospheric and oceanic monitoring
- Monitoring at ground-based stations (Hateruma Island, Cape Ochiishi)
- Monitoring of greenhouse gases over the Pacific Ocean using regular cargo ships
- Aircraft monitoring of greenhouse gases over Siberia
