A +-2 ppm uncertainty is added to the CO2 estimates at ~850 hPa. Aircraft data between 380 hPa and below the tropopause are selected. The aircraft data are extrapolated down to the lower cruising height limit at 380 hPa. The aircraft data are also extrapolated upwards to the blended tropopause pressure (TROPPB). The TROPPB data are extracted from GEOS-FP (Goddard Earth Observing System - forward processing) meteorology data using the Python suite "ginput" version 1.0.6 (https://doi.org/10.22002/D1.1944). For the stratospheric partial column above the TROPPB, results of the MIROC4-ACTM (https://doi.org/10.2151/SOLA.2018-016) are used. The constructed CO2 profile are interpolated onto the corresponding monthly averaged pressure grid of the GOSAT (Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite) ACOS (Atmospheric CO2 Observation from Space) and NIES (National Institute for Environmental Studies) retrievals. From these profiles, the "observation-based column-averaged mixing ratio of CO2" (obs. XCO2) is calculated by using Eq. (15) of Connor et al. (2008) (https://doi.org/10.1029/2006JD008336). (*1) neg.uncertainty uncertainty interval of obs.XCO2 derived from -2 ppm variability in the observation-based CO2 profile at ~850 hPa for the domain. (*2) pos.uncertainty uncertainty interval of obs.XCO2 derived from +2 ppm variability in the observation-based CO2 profile at ~850 hPa for the domain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terms and Conditions of Use - The author of this data set (hereafter "Author") agrees to the use of this data set by person(s) wishing to use the data (hereafter "User") as stipulated in the Terms and Conditions below. 1.
