In 1994, the Center for Global Environmental Research, Earth System Division, National Institute for Environmental Studies, established a station at Cape Ochi-ishi. The station is located at the southern tip of the cape and 50 m above sea level. The long-term trend of greenhouse gases and air pollutants at higher latitudes has been monitored since then.
This page presents the most up-to-date trend and annual change of carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), optical black carbon (OBC), and particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10) observed at Cape Ochiishi.

You can see the annual change which is calculated by the difference between daily mean concentrations in the past 365 days and the concentrations in the same period of the previous year for CO2 and O3 observed at the Ochi-ishi station. A positive value indicates an increase of the annual rate.
To avoid the effect of missing data, the daily mean concentrations are obtained by Thoning's exponential frequency filter [Thoning et al., 1989, J. Geophys. Res., 94(6):8549-8565].
