Greenhouse gas / air pollutant trends on Hateruma Island

In 1992, the Center for Global Environmental Research, Earth System Division, National Institute for Environmental Studies established a station on Hateruma Island, a small sub-tropical island located at the southern end of Japan. The long-term trend of greenhouse gases and air pollutants in Eastern Asia has been monitored since then.

This page presents the most up-to-date trend and annual change of carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), optical black carbon (OBC), and particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10) observed on Hateruma Island.

Please note that the values and plots provided here are not fully quality-controlled and contain outliers. The data for the short-lived component will be replaced with more accurate data in the near future. Please use the quality-controlled data published in the "Dataset List" for scientific use.
