Betula platyphylla Sukaczev var. japonica (Miq.) H.Hara Secodary forest has been investigated to examine its stand structure and dynamics extraction. A study plot with area 0.25-ha was introduced in 1990, followed by repeated tree censuses (5 or 10year interval), 北海道大学雨龍研究林109林班シラカバ二次林の林分構成・伐採率等とその後の生長量の推移に関する調査.

The census targeted trees with diameter at breast height (1.3 m) equal to or larger than 10-cm in the plot. Trees were identified by metal plate, and their species names were recorded., 調査区内の胸高直径10cm以上の樹木を対象とした. 金番で個体識別し、樹種名を記録した.
