Soil respiration:　 Measuring soil respiration using a portable soil respiration system (LI-6400, LI-COR, Lincoln, NE, US) once per month.

Root respiration:　 Measuring root respiration using a root respiration system (LI-7000, LI-COR, Lincoln, NE, US) once per season.
