| Abstract: |
In Hokkaido University, Tomakomai Experimental Forest, compartment 405, the dynamics of Natural forest were investigated at stand. In 1983, a tree census with an area of 0.5 ha (50 m x 100 m) was established. However in 1992 plot area was devided in two, also in 2001 plot area was changed to 0.24 ha（47 m ×51 m）. At the 1st time and 2nd time census, we measured Diameter at breast height (DBH). After the 3rd time, we measured Girth at breast height (GBH). The census interval were 9-years for the 1st-3rd census, and 4-years between the 3rd and 4th census. After the 4th censuses, there were conducted at 5-year intervals. Besides, compartment 405 has a record of logging in 1956.

北海道大学苫小牧研究林405林班天然林の動態を調査した。1983年に面積0.5 ha （50 ｍ×100 ｍ）の調査区を設けたが、1992年に調査区が分割され0.25 ha（50 m ×50 m）になり、その後2001年に調査面積を0.24 ha（47 m ×51 m）に変更した。調査間隔は1-3回目は9年間隔、3, 4回目は4年間隔、4回目以降は5年間隔で調査を実施した。調査項目は1, 2回目は胸高直径を、3回目調査以降では胸高周囲長を計測した。また、調査区の立地する405林班では1956年に伐採を行った記録が存在する。

Before 1999, diameter at breast height (DBH: 1.3 m above ground) was measured with a caliper (2 cm unit). Since 2000, girth at breast height (GBH: 1.3 m above ground) was measured with a steel tape and converted into diameter.
