| Abstract: |
"In Hokkaido University, Teshio Experimental Forest, compartment 318, this site was established for observing structure and the dynamics of Abies sachalinensis plantation (established in 1965). Since 1985, a tree census with an area of 0.1ha (33×30ⅿ) has been doing. Girth at breast height, diameter at breast height, tree height, survival, crown width, shortage of wood, grade of wood quality were measured at 5-year intervals (10-year intervals after the 3rd census). Mesurements are different in each tree census year, please refer to the ""Measurement method"" described below. The forest was thinned at April, 2007.

"北海道大学天塩研究林318林班において、トドマツ造林地（1965年植栽）の林分構造および動態を観察するため,1985年に面積0.1ha(33×30ⅿ)の調査区を設けた。約5年間隔（3回目調査以降は10年間隔）で胸高周囲長、胸高直径、樹高、生枯、樹冠幅、欠点、樹幹級等を測定している（※測定項目は各調査年で異なるため、下記に記載の「測定方法」をご確認ください）。2007年4月に間伐を実施した。
なお、この調査は、次の試験課題として実施した。
基盤調査課題; 長期観察林, 北海道大学北方生物圏フィールド科学センター森林圏ステーション長期計画 (2015～2024)。
森林動態学部門; 動植物の個体群動態とその維持機構の解明, 北海道大学北方生物圏フィールド科学センター森林圏ステーション長期計画(2005～2014)。

Individual trees were identified using numbered metal plates. The census targeted trees with diameter at breast height (1.3m above ground) equal to or larger than 4-cm in the plot (from the 1985 census).

Until 1990, diameter at breast height (DBH: 1.3 m above ground) was measured with a caliper (2 cm unit). Since 2000, girth at breast height (GBH: 1.3 m above ground) was measured with a steel tape and converted into diameter.
