| Abstract: |
In Hokkaido University, Teshio Experimental Forest, compartment 227, this site was established for observing succession of remained trees in a conifer-hardwood mixed stand after selection cutting in 1984 (established in 1992). Since 1992, a tree census with an area of 0.5 ha ( 100 × 50 ⅿ) has been doing. Girth at breast height, diameter at breast height, tree height, survival, crown width, shortage of wood, grade of wood quality were measured at 5-year intervals (10-year intervals after the 3rd census). Mesurements are different in each tree census year, please refer to the ""Measurement method"" described below.

"北海道大学天塩研究林227林班において、炭鉱の沢 択伐地の択伐施業後（1984年実施）の針広混交天然林の林分構造および動態を観察するため,1992年に面積0.5ha (100×50ⅿ) の調査区を設けた。約5年間隔（3回目調査以降は10年間隔）で胸高周囲長、胸高直径、樹高、生枯、樹冠幅、欠点、樹幹級等を測定している（※測定項目は各調査年で異なるため、下記に記載の「測定方法」をご確認ください）。
なお、この調査は、次の試験課題として実施した。
基盤調査課題; 長期観察林, 北海道大学北方生物圏フィールド科学センター森林圏ステーション長期計画 (2015～2024)。

Targets to measure / 測定対象
Individual trees were identified using numbered metal plates. In 1992, the census targeted trees with diameter at breast height (1.3m above ground) equal to or larger than 10-cm in the plot. Since 1997, the census targeted trees with diameter at breast height (1.3m above ground) equal to or larger than 4-cm in the plot.

Until 1992, diameter at breast height (DBH: 1.3 m above ground) was measured with a caliper (2 cm unit). Since 1997, girth at breast height (GBH: 1.3 m above ground) was measured with a steel tape and converted into diameter.
