In Hokkaido University, Uryu Experimental Forest, compartment 422, the dynamics of Abies sachalinensis forest were investigated at the plantation（planted in 1956）. In 1989, a tree census with an area of 0.25 ha (50 m x 50 m) was established. The diameter at breast height (DBH), tree height, Height of the crown base, and crown width were measured at 10-year intervals .
