METEX – An Online Trajectory Application
The Meteorological Data Explorer (METEX), developed at the Center for Global Environmental Research (CGER), includes programs for calculating air trajectory and for visualizing meteorological fields. This site provides services for calculating air trajectory and viewing meteorological fields online. It also provides submission forms for batch calculation of air trajectory and footprint so that a large number of calculations can be achieved by one submission.
Trajectory Archive
The database includes pre-calculated, 10-day back trajectories for Hateruma and Ochiishi stations of CGER. Three meteorological data sets are used for the calculation: Operational data from the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF), reanalysis data from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), and Grid point Values (GPV) from Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
  • [Calculation Period] 1993/01/01 - Present
  • [Start Location of Calculation] Hateruma (Latitude : 24.0608N, Longitude : 123.8093E) 500 m above the surface, Cape Ochiishi (Latitude : 43.1602N, Longitude : 145.4973E) 500 m above the surface
  • [Output interval] 1 hour
Trajectory Animation
This application animates the CO2 variations observed at Hateruma and Ochiishi stations along with 3-day back trajectories that are initialized at the same location and observation time.
  • [Calculation Period] Same as the opened observation data
  • [Start Location of Calculation] Hateruma (Latitude : 24.0608N, Longitude : 123.8093E) 500 m above the surface, Cape Ochiishi (Latitude : 43.1602N, Longitude : 145.4973E) 500 m above the surface
