Photo lidarThe ozone lidar measures vertical ozone profiles by using differences between two back-scattered signals: one that is absorbed by ozone and the other that is not. The ozone lidar is able to measure ozone in the lower and middle stratosphere with high accuracy. The CGER ozone lidar system was constructed at Tsukuba in 1988 for measuring vertical profiles of stratospheric ozone (Fig. 2).
