A natural forest has been investigated to examine effect of harvesting on its stand structure and dynamics. A study plot with area 0.50-ha was introduced in 1983, followed by repeated tree censuses (at 8 year interval)., 伐採による天然林の林分構造および動態への影響を調べるため、北海道大学中川研究林182林班（経営試験林）に、面積0.50haの調査区を設け、1983年から5年間隔で、本数、胸高周囲長、生枯を計測している

Targets to measure, 測定対象
The census targeted trees with girth at breast height (1.3 m) equal to or larger than 18-cm in the plot. Trees were identified by metal plate, and their species names were recorded., 調査区内の胸高周囲長18cm以上の樹木を対象とした．金板で個体識別し、樹種名を記録した．
