A study plot with area 0.25-ha was introduced in 1988, followed by repeated 5 censuses (10year interval)., Iperfomed typhoon in 2005., 北海道大学雨龍研究林123林班トドマツ人工林の林分構造および動態を調べるため、1988年に面積0.25haの調査区を設け、10年間隔で、胸高・樹高・樹冠幅・枝下高を計測している.2005年に台風被害調査を行っている.
