There is a natural forest in compartment 236 of the Teshio Experimental Forest, Hokkaido University. This area of Teshio Experimental Forest is managed with a group selection system.
The dynamic state of the forest after group selection cutting a tree is observed in this plot. A study plot with area 0.5-ha was introduced in 1990, followed by repeated tree censuses (at 5-10 year intervals).

調査は北海道大学天塩研究林236林班（20線）で実施した。群状伐採試験地の収穫に伴う調査を行うため、1990（平成2）年に形状100m x 50m、面積0.5haの調査区を設け、5-10年間隔で、本数、胸高周囲長などを計測している。
このデータは、次の報告に使用された ; デジタル空中三角測量による20線群状伐採跡地の時系列解析, 北方森林保全技術 25号, 2007年, 北海道大学北方生物圏フィールド科学センター森林圏ステーション。
なお、この調査は、以下の試験課題として実施した。
